About Therapy

Connection is something you want.
You are tired of canceling plans and saying, “This is how I am.” Showing up for the dinner, a date, a meeting, or a family event is what you want.
You tell yourself you’ll go this time. Then, your chest tightens, thoughts spiral, as you imagine saying the wrong thing, being judged, and feeling awkward. So, you cancel, or you go and spend the entire time monitoring yourself. Later, you feel frustrated because you know better. You’ve read about anxiety and understand your patterns, but understanding hasn’t translated into change.
Anxiety shows up in your relationships, causing you to struggle with saying what you need. So, you hold things in. Then one day, it all comes out sideways, and you regret how it sounded. You wonder why you keep repeating dynamics you don’t want.
If you’re here, you don’t need someone to tell you you’re “fine.” You need someone who can help you move the needle. This is where I come into the picture.
What’s it like working with me?
Therapy with me is direct, steady, and supportive. I listen closely and don’t rush you or dismiss what you’re feeling. But I also won’t let us stay stuck in vague insight or endless storytelling. If I notice a pattern, I will name it. If something isn’t adding up, I’ll say so in a way that feels respectful and clear.
Many clients tell me they feel relieved by that balance, heard but also guided.
You might notice that we slow things down in sessions. We replay a conversation that went poorly and look at the exact moment your anxiety spiked. I will help break down what you were thinking, what you felt in your body, and what you did next. This approach is not to criticize you but to understand the chain.
Once we understand it, we can change it.

My approach includes insight plus action.
A lot of my clients are thoughtful and self-aware. The missing piece isn’t intelligence but follow-through.
Together, we connect awareness to behavior.
We use practical tools drawn from CBT and DBT to help you regulate your emotions and respond differently in real time. In addition, we will look at how your family system shapes how you communicate and identify the stories you tell yourself in social settings or conflict.
Over weeks and months, the shifts become noticeable. You will start to attend the gathering and stay the whole time. Speaking up in a relationship without apologizing for having needs will become easier. There will be no more assuming the worst in silence because you will catch yourself before withdrawing.
Clients often describe feeling more grounded, more confident, less controlled by anticipation, and less stuck in shame after interactions. Change doesn’t come from me “fixing” you. It comes from you practicing new responses with support and accountability.
Therapy may have let you down before.
Some of my clients come in hesitant. They’ve tried therapy before and felt rushed, dismissed, or misunderstood. If that’s you, we can talk about it, unpack what didn’t work, and identify what you needed and didn’t receive.
Therapy should feel collaborative. It should feel like someone is with you in the process. You deserve to feel heard before you’re asked to change. And you deserve a therapist who’s willing to be transparent, honest, and engaged.
I work best with people who are ready to look at themselves honestly and take responsibility for their growth – not perfectly but consistently.
If you’re willing to do that, this work can move.
About Natasha Deshommes, LMFT

I’m direct because I care.
I don’t believe in beating around the bush. I care too much about my clients to sit quietly while they stay stuck. That doesn’t mean I’m harsh. It means I’m honest. My style is empathetic but straightforward. You’ll know where you stand with me.
Clients often tell me they feel genuinely heard in our sessions. That matters to me. Change doesn’t happen until you feel understood.
Why am I a therapist?
I’m drawn to people who want to become a better version of themselves but feel blocked by anxiety, avoidance, or relational patterns they don’t fully understand.
My background includes working with individuals, couples, and families across a wide range of concerns. I integrate cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, solution-focused approaches, and family systems work in a practical way.
My focus is on awareness, plus tools, insight, and accountability.
I’m especially passionate about helping clients who are returning to therapy after feeling disappointed elsewhere. Rebuilding trust in the process is part of the work.
Outside of sessions…
I value growth, responsibility, and showing up fully in my own relationships. That belief shapes how I practice.
If you’re ready to stop retreating from your life and start responding to it with clarity and confidence, I’d be honored to work with you.
